Former North Dakota basketball star arrested multiple times

On Behalf of | Apr 17, 2014 | Child Support |

A former basketball star from the University of North Dakota has been arrested multiple times over the past few years, according to the local authorities. Since the beginning of 2012, in January, he has as many as seven arrests on his record. Each of these stems from the fact that he has failed to pay the child support that he owes. This was reported by the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, where he was booked after each of these arrests.

The news about the basketball player has recently come out after he was arrested on aggravated assault charges, which are felony charges. These came from a domestic incident between him and a young woman. The woman has stated that he took hold of the hooded sweatshirt that she was wearing, dragged her through the door and into a residence, and then choked her, putting his hands around her neck and holding her up against the nearest wall. This went on for anywhere from 10 to 15 seconds, according to the report.

It was not reported what the relationship between the basketball player and the woman was, or how they had met one another.

Failing to pay child support is a crime that is punishable by jail time, as this report shows, and so it is important for those who have been accused to know what charges they could face and what ramifications those could have. A judge will typically seek charges that are in the best interests of the child, trying to get the person involved to pay child support in the future.
